Not real tea leaves
I bought this item because I was under the impression after having read the description, that I was going to get real tea leaves but I was very wrong. This bag contains chopped up, say pulverized, tea leaves, which I absolutely do not like as a real tea lover, which is also the reason why I don’t like using tea bags. And on top of that, I didn’t like the taste either. So, if you prefer the real deal, stay away from this one.

Tea leaf snobbery
I agree with other reviewers about the leaf-size snobbery. It’s the flavour that counts….always ! This is a very full-flavoured tea which doesn’t “ stew” easily. What a find . What’s the big deal about using a fine strainer? You can buy one for pennies . Well worth the trouble and minimal expense for all that flavour. As for the person who says it doesn’t taste of much , you’ve either very little sense of taste or it’s not a genuine review. Anyone who likes a full-flavoured beautifully coloured tea should buy this.

Excellent tea – we had been looking for a good …
Excellent tea – we had been looking for a good loose leaf tea for some time, and stumbled across this on Amazon, so thought would give it a go. It makes a really good cup of “builder’s tea” – strong, refreshing, perfect! My only complaint is with the price – when I started buying it, it was around £8 a kilo, and it’s now gone up to £14 in the space of a few months, which seems a pretty unreasonable increase to me.

Fantastic tea
This is very good! OK, I do love loose leaf Kenyan black tea anyway, but it is still a winner. It’s my go-to tea from morning to late afternoon. Strong, full flavour, not much tannin considering. Only gripe would be the price, but it’s still cheaper than a flight to Kenya.

makes a decent cup of tea
We called in a café when on holiday and had a lovely cup of tea and asked what tea they used. They gave us the name and we looked it up when we got home and bought it.It is quite expensive to buy but a bag lasts a long time and works out value for money. It makes a perfect drink, no bitter taste, no dust just a smooth drink of perfect tea. I wouldn’t use any other now.

Fast delivery. Tastes good.My only criticism is that it is not loose leaf. It is fine granules and powdery which mean you have to have very fine mesh strainers etc – not as advertised!!

Repeat buyer. Superb any time tea.
Great tasting tea – we use it for every mug every day. Brew it in a glass teapot with a fine filter. Fabulous result every time and the product quality is very consistent over time.

The go-to cuppa
This is my treat tea. When I’ve got time to use loose leaf in a teapot, it’s my go-to cuppa. Pre Xmas I’ll add a mince pie to the moment, before Easter a hot X bun and when they are in season a slice of gooseberry frangipane tart.

It’s value for money, but…
I think I misread the blurb or reviews of this tea.It is certainly good value for money for the price… but…This is another one of those teas ground almost to powder, one without the kind of refreshing ‘breakfast tea’ flavour I have been looking for. I tend to blend it with another, less processed, alternative in order to get the desired effect – which does rather defeat the object.

Oh yes !!
I`m fed up with teabags that promise `full flavour and strength` but come up way short so I tried this loose leaf tea – it`s lovely, I will never go back. It`s flavoursome and refreshing and a little goes a long way. The leaves are quite small but free from dust and they brew very quickly to make a perfect cuppa !

Reefreshes a jaded palete
I am obsessed with finding the perfect brew. Strong, bright, comforting, refreshing and complex. This one is not yet perfection – good strength, bright and refreshing, but not quite the full-mouthed comforting experience I yearn for – I may try blending in some other teas – but it is well on its way – and fantastic at the price

Excellent tea
This tea is great and you don’t need a lot of it for a nice refreshing brew. One teaspoonful is adequate for two people.

A Robust Breakfast Tea
Like a lot of the cheaper leaf teas this one is a fairly fine (consistency not quality) black tea, and a small amount is nor, ally plenty, when making a one litre pot I find that one of the scoops often sold with ground coffee is sufficient. As mentioned the tea has a fine consistency and if you use a filter tea pot tends to gradually gum up the filter leading to a high degree of foaming when pouring in the boiling water, thus regular cleaning of the tea pot filter is essential.Taste wise this is a strong malty breakfast team great first thing in the morning with milk and as much as I may enjoy some of the more delicate flavours of more expensive teas first thing in the morning this just right. Ultimately the tea is good value for money as long as you know what to expect.

Excellent flavour
**** 30th March 2015. The current listed tea “Birchall Great Rift Loose Leaf Tea” is not the tea I purchased or reviewed. My review was for a 1kg Kenya loose tea which appears to have been removed and replaced with the above tea. I have never tried the above tea! ****Loose tea is becoming harder and harder to get in the supermarkets these days, so it was nice to be able to purchase a large bag of good quality Kenya tea from Amazon. The flavour is delicious, strong without being overpowering and very very refreshing. You need 2 teaspoons per pot (for 2 people)and it doesn’t need to brew for long as the strength comes through very quickly. As it’s a very fine tea, you might find a few leaves get through the tea strainer. If you like tea for a good price that actually tastes like tea, I’d highly recommend this.

Started buying this product in lockdown and have continued since. We are a big tea drinking family so using a teapot saves time and is economical. Fresh flavour

Really good tea
Hi, this is lovely tea, it’s a nice strong brew without the fake taste of tanning that you usually find in teas famously trying to brand themselves as a good strong brew! You get my thinking, the White Rose County of England.

Keep it tea, and keep it Birchall. Great-tasting, fresh-tasting tea. Ignore those moaning about the size of the leaves. Do you eat the leaves? I don’t, therefore the size of the leaves isn’t relevant – it’s the taste that’s relevant – and that’s great.I came across this tea by chance, and was hooked on it after one cup – Brita filters gave a couple of bags away with their filters, to help demonstrate the benefit of using their filters. After trying that, I bought some prism bags, but I decided that I was now drinking so much tea that I couldn’t afford prism bags on an ongoing basis – so for the first time in my life (I’m a 39 year old man!) I tried loose leaf tea. I bought an infuser specifically and I haven’t looked back – and I’m not someone that can usually be bothered with faff.

Beautiful Malty Perfectly Balanced Tea
I have to agree with all the positive reviewers loving this tea. Having discovered Birchalls at Wework, I decided to try loose leaf this time instead of teabags. A level teaspoon makes a perfect cup of tea in a large mug. It is the best loose leaf I have ever tasted, (the leaf sizes are unimportant by the way). It is malty, strong, perfectly balanced and something to look forward to and enjoy.

Bright, Flavoursome, Premium Tea.
The quality is high with this Tea. For those who like their tea smooth tasting with flavour, bright, and lively this tea from Kenya’s Rift Valley which is a fertile growing region of Kenya needs your attention. We give it to our guests also (Covid permitting) and they nearly all comment on what a great cuppa it is.
